Mineral water could be purchased from almost any retails shops or supermarkets.

Driving
A valid International Driving License is required for driving in Maldives.

Drug Abuse
Trafficking, manufacturing, importing or exporting of any type of narcotics carries the penalty of 25 years in prison.

Electricity

The electrical supply on Male' is 240 AC using round and square pin plugs. All resorts operate their own power supply.

Medical Facilities

All resorts have first aid facilities and on some you can get the services of a resident doctor and facilities for minor treatment. Some have clinics with separate observation rooms and small pharmacies. The Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and the ADK Hospital are the two major hospitals in Male'. In addition there are a number of smaller clinics where you may consult a doctor. In both the IGMH and ADK, doctors are on duty 24 hours of the day. Both conduct surgery and offer a number of specialist services.

Money Changers
Apart from banks and hotels, money can be changed wherever the sign "Licensed Money Changer" is displayed. Most shopping complexes have a licensed moneychanger. Visitors are discouraged from changing money with unlicensed moneychangers.

Payphone

Public payphones operated by stored-value phone cards can be used to make both local and international calls. Public payphones can be found almost everywhere.

Travellers across the world are understandably more concerned about personal safety and security issues today than ever before. The Maldives Tourism Promotion Board would like to inform all their tourists that Maldives's track record for safety and stability is intact.
